  • What we build

Four pathways to economic dignity.

Skills and Employment

Modular vocational training combined with industry exposure, placement support, and post-placement mentorship. Our flagship Project 10K model has placed hundreds of youth in formal employment across healthcare, IT-enabled services, and other growing sectors.

Enterprise Development

Interest-free microcredit linked to self-help groups, business mentorship, and structured pathways from grants to enterprise. We work with women to build businesses that grow with them, strengthening long-term economic resilience and autonomy.

Women's Economic Collectives

Producer groups, federations, and shared enterprises that move women from individual income to collective economic power. Collectives like Green Fem and SkillNest are generating sustainable revenue while expanding opportunities for other women.

Inclusive Livelihood Pathways

Livelihood opportunities designed to reach people facing different barriers to economic participation. Through skills development, enterprise support, and community partnerships, participants build greater economic confidence, resilience, and independence.

  • Highlighted Initiatives

Programs shaping UDAAN.

Each initiative is co-designed and implemented with community-rooted organisations that help shape, strengthen, and carry the work forward over time.

Livelihood training in basic and advanced tailoring, Aari work, food processing, and livestock rearing for women survivors of domestic violence and HIV. SVRL combines economic empowerment with emotional support and collective organising, helping women rebuild lives with dignity.

  • Voices from the ground.

We joined the SkillNest Aari Work course as learners in October 2025, unsure of where our skills could take us. Through hands-on training, theory sessions, and continuous mentoring, we didn’t just learn Aari work. We learned how to work together, plan careers, and believe in our abilities. After completing the course, one of our trainers invited us to step into a new role as vocational trainers at a women’s education institution in Madurai. Today, we train over 300 students together. What began as a skill course has become a leadership journey.

  • What makes udaan sustainable

Economic systems communities can carry forward.

UDAAN builds the systems that enable communities to access, navigate, and expand their own economic opportunities.

A young woman who completes a Project 10K placement does more than become an earner. She creates new possibilities for other women in her village. An UDAAN SARTHI who manages a self-help group does more than facilitate meetings. She becomes the institutional memory of how collective economic action works in her community.

This is what economic autonomy looks like. Opportunity that grows into resilience, leadership, and long-term independence.

Access

Skills, capital, and market connections that open new economic opportunities.

Ownership

Community members transition from beneficiaries to navigators and mentors.

Collective Power

Individual gains multiply into producer groups, federations, and shared enterprises.

Autonomy

Pathways sustained and expanded by communities long after external support recedes.
