  • What we build

Five pathways to community health.

Community-Owned Healthcare

Hospitals and primary care infrastructure governed by community health committees. The SUHAM hospital and its mutual health model illustrate how community ownership can strengthen access to affordable and accountable care.

Maternal, Reproductive and Child Health

Sexual and reproductive health awareness, menstrual health, maternal care, and integrated nutrition programmes that address anaemia and malnutrition among women and children.

Mental Wellness

Community-based mental health interventions including peer counselling, mental health clubs, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation support for persons with mental illness.

Inclusive and Affirming Care

Trans-affirmative healthcare, tribal community health, and rehabilitation support for persons with disabilities, ensuring care is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to diverse needs.

Social Protection and NCD Screening

Unified help desks connecting families to ration cards, Ayushman Bharat, widow pensions, and disability benefits, alongside community-based screening for diabetes, hypertension, and anaemia.

  • Highlighted Initiatives

Programs shaping AAROGYA.

Each initiative is co-designed and implemented with community-rooted organisations that help shape, strengthen, and sustain the work over time.

ENABLE focuses on nutrition programmes addressing anaemia, malnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies in women and children, through community-based distribution and awareness campaigns. ACCESS operates a community-owned hospital and mobile clinic with a mutual health insurance model, where ₹300 for a five-member family provides free consultations, affordable medicines, lab tests, and referrals. The hospital is governed by an Executive Health Committee, a group of women who lead the institution.

  • Voices from the ground.

I became a community health connector after I was trained as a lay first aider. Before this, I was struggling to support my family and had little confidence. Today, I earn an income, support my daughter’s education, and help people in my village access healthcare when they need it. I visit households regularly, provide basic first aid, identify health concerns, and guide families to the right health services. When someone is unsure where to go or afraid to seek care, they come to me. Being from the village, people trust me. I feel respected, confident, and proud that I can support others while standing on my own.
